What to expect from the finance COP
This year is set to be the hottest on record. Soberingly, it could also be the first year to break the 1.5 degrees Celsius threshold outlined in the Paris Agreement.
With conversations focused on setting the New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance and carbon markets, there must be clear and actionable progress on climate finance. At the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), the Climate Resilience Center is leading key conversations to advance mitigation and adaptation efforts for heat-exposed communities.
Together with our partners, we will:
- Connect leading stakeholders, building upon our ongoing Call for Collaboration to mobilize adaptation finance, and policy solutions that protect people, livelihoods, and local economies from climate change;
- Double down on our commitment to advancing resilience solutions to extreme heat at speed and scale to protect frontline communities; and,
- Launch our plans for COP30 with Brazilian and global actors from both the public and private sectors to elevate resilience and position our partners and policymakers for even greater impact in Belem next year.
