Daniel Stander

Daniel has been a nonresident senior fellow the Atlantic Council’s Climate Resilience Center. Since 2020, he has served as special advisor to multiple UN agencies (including UNDRR and UNDP) on matters of risk, analytics and finance, and as Deputy Chair of the Board of Resilient Cities Network. Prior to that, Stander was Global Managing Director at RMS (now Moody’s), a catastrophe risk modeling company, for fifteen years.
Over his career, he has worked on every continent, advising public and private entities on a variety of complex risks, including natural hazards, pandemics and cyber attacks. He is a pioneer of resilience finance, helping capital find responsible investments that engage communities, avert disasters, and deliver socioeconomic co-benefits.
Stander holds a Master’s from the University of Oxford. He also studied at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the Center of Creative Leadership in Brussels.
