Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin
Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin is the Atlantic Council Climate Resilience Center’s Climate Finance Ambassador.
Mohieldin is a global economist and UN Special Envoy on Financing Sustainable Development, with over thirty years of experience in international finance and development. He leads the UN Secretary-General’s expert group on debt solutions and previously served as IMF Executive Director, World Bank Senior Vice President, Egypt’s first Minister of Investment, and the COP27 UN Climate Change High-Level Champion.
Mohieldin holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK; a Master’s in Economics and Social Policy Analysis from the University of York, UK; a Diploma of Development Economics from the University of Warwick; and a B.Sc. in Economics from Cairo University. He co-chairs the WEF Global Future Council on the Business of Economic Growth. He is a Professor of Economics and Finance, Cairo University, a Visiting Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University, a Fellow of the World Academy of Arts and Science, a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society and Nonresident Senior Fellow at Brookings Institution.
