Shayne Hayes
Shayne Hayes is the Associate Director of Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center’s Video Game Initiative. Shayne supports the Gaming Center of Excellence and works with AAA game companies and indie developers to implement climate resilience solutions in their games.
Previously, Shayne developed content for Minecraft: Education Edition that has reached millions of students, including the platform’s flagship series, Hour of Code. In 2016, Shayne achieved a Guinness World Record for developing the most downloaded Minecraft project. Alongside other members of the International Game Developers Association Climate Special Interest Group, Shayne co-authored the Environmental Game Design Playbook, a groundbreaking publication that equips game developers with the resources they need to integrate effective climate action messaging into their games.
Shayne lives in beautiful southern Oregon and graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Computer Science: Game Design.
