Our mission at COP28
In 2023, the world endured its hottest summer on record, underscoring the urgent need to build resilience against the impacts of climate-driven extreme heat. While drastic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is critical, the urgent need for adaptation—and the essential need for finance to mobilize it—is mounting every hour of every day.
At the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) Arsht-Rock will accelerate collective action to deliver adaptation, finance, and policy solutions that protect people, livelihoods, and local economies from extreme heat at speed and scale, with a focus on:
- Elevating the critical need to address extreme heat’s impact on the health and well-being of vulnerable communities, promoting solutions that strengthen preparedness, awareness, and access to data.
- Mobilizing investments in climate adaptation by private actors including the banking, insurance, and asset management sectors.
- Showcasing innovative financial mechanisms for climate adaptation that protect the lives and livelihoods of women worldwide.

COP28 Event Recordings
To raise awareness on the impacts of extreme heat and accelerate action on adaptation, finance, and policy solutions, Arsht-Rock collaborated with a variety of partners to host events at COP28.
These events, hosted at the COP Resilience Hub and other pavilions in the COP28 Blue Zone, were attended by several notable partners, news outlets, stakeholders, and practitioners in the climate adaptation space. In addition to facilitating these events on the ground, Arsht-Rock also shared the events and live Twitter updates to bring COP to you—wherever you are.

Looking back at COP27
Why focus on heat?
Today, heat kills more people globally than any other climate-driven disaster. Climate change is increasing the intensity, frequency, and duration of heat waves. And as temperatures rise, so does the inequality of extreme heat’s effects. Learn more about the economic, health, and developmental consequences of extreme heat.
