Report summary: A Drawdown-Aligned Framework for the Gaming Industry
The gaming industry has a major impact on the climate. In the U.S. alone, game-related energy usage is estimated to generate 24 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year — equivalent to over 5 million cars.
The industry also has the potential to positively change our planet’s future.
Project Drawdown’s “A Drawdown-Aligned Framework for the Gaming Industry” shows how software companies can advocate for clean energy policy, integrate climate solutions into games, and create climate-friendly retirement plans.
Arsht-Rock is featured as an example of the Framework in action, and our Nonresident Senior Fellow Marina Psaros was part of the working group that contributed to this resource.
The framework’s goal
“A Drawdown-Aligned Framework for the Gaming Industry” works to equip employers and employees in the gaming industry with real-life examples and guidance on how to further climate engagement at their companies. The Framework has the power to mobilize both gamer and community engagement to further climate policy advocacy.
